Rabbit Under My Deck
I don’t mind him living under the deck, because before he moved in it had been a nesting for skunks one year. I am much happier with the rabbit for sure. Here are a pic and clip of our friend. I love nature enjoy flowers, vegetation and critters like birds squirrels rabbits chipmunks butterflies I even do not mind watching the skunk families I just do not like the smell or dog bathing that comes. do you have a favorite back yard nature friend?
Squirrels, squirrels, squirrels…
When I lived in New Hampshire my dog would sleep at the end of my bed near the window, and it would never fail that the squirrels would sit on the picnic table outside my window and look at her through the window teasing her into barking fits, and they would just sit there and look at her as she barked. During the day if she was tied out front they would eat nuts in the driveway about a foot from where the extent of her lead reached, and would drive her crazy, watching her bark and bounce around trying to reach them. We soon moved to RI, when I married my husband, and lived in the city of Providence, in a house with small yard. Tipper would lay out in the sun, and I would hear her bark to come in. I would go out to get her and what would I often see? I would see squirrels dropping crab apples on her from up in the trees. I was like, you have got to be kidding!
Then, about 8 years ago, we moved to the house we live in now and it has been much better because the yard is fenced in and fairly large, so she would run out and tree those darn critters, LOL. “Good for you”, I would say, LOL. When we lived in the city she would do this in the dog park as well. Now we have three dogs, all of which will try and chase down those squirrels, not one has caught one yet though. I am very glad of that, but I am also glad they have fun chasing them up the trees. For our Black and Tan Coonhound, Tipper, it is a bit of sweet revenge I think.
Now that she is older, and our Cocker Spaniel is now middle aged, and the Basset pup (who’s about a year and a half) is still on a lead in the yard unless we are out playing with him, the squirrels are not in as much fear as they once were, yet these country squirrels seem friendlier and are not causing issues. Well, hmmmm, except, I do think this past winter they made a home in our attic in an area you can’t get into except for a small hole (it an addition). You could lay in bed sometimes and hear them playing about, but that is another story for another time. Have a great day everyone.

Nature in my back yard is beautiful! Many know I have an anxiety disorder a first step in getting out more was my camera and taking walks in my own back yard more, and what I found was amazing just by stepping out my back door a wonderful place of beauty, as time passes well last year I started going to the ocean more and more so my back yard not only had beauty but magic it had me wanting more beauty that can be found in many places. (These are only back yard images I placed on note cards and greeting cards many you can edit yourself with your own words for print.) thank you for looking hugs.
